Wallace Heck, Jr. &  Tripp Heck

Wallace Heck, Jr. owns and operates Heck Industries, Inc. in Baton Rouge, LA. The Heck family has been manufacturing and delivering ready-mixed concrete for over 50 years. Wallace’s father had a huge love for race horses and that is where he first learned about horses. The Heck family was involved with race horses for many years, owning and operating Heck Farms, also in Baton Rouge. Upon the death of Wallace, Sr. in 1992, a dispersal was held. A year or so later, Wallace’s children wanted to take the horses in a different direction–barrel racing. After a brief venture into speed events, they decided maybe halter would be more their speed. Being involved with speed horses for so long, halter was quite a change. Wallace says the first time he watched a halter class, he fell asleep and decided it was like watching paint dry. Anyone who has met Wallace knows you can always catch him taking a “cat nap” in the stands, unless his kids are showing. The Heck’s first halter horse purchase was a mare, Glowing Reality, who was shown to a superior award. Wallace’s son, Tripp, qualified the mare for the Youth World but was unable to show due to the fact that he was only 8 years-old. Tripp had been bit by the horse bug just like his father and grandfather before him. Tripp has been showing and winning since then and is looking forward to a big win at the youth world one day. He came so close with Cee Oh Oh Elle when they placed third. Tripp is very excited about showing Heck Yea I’m Hot this year at the Congress along with Hecktic, both of whom are “home-grown” so to speak.

High Presentation won a Reserve World Championship for both Wallace and his youngest daughter, Katherine. She has new horse to add to her show string as well, No Bar Too Far. Wallace and Katherine have been showing his full sister, Guitars N Tiki Bars, too. The Heck Family takes great pride in showing the offspring of mares they have either raised or purchased and shown. Glowing Reality is the dam to both Guitars N Tiki Bars and No Bar Too Far. Heck Yea I’m Hot is out of Casino Clu, one of the first mares Wallace bought to start his show string. With the help of longtime trainer and friend, Monte Horn, they have created a plan for his horses and put it into action. It requires patience and courage to wait for the new foal crop each year, but each one is better than the one before. In late 2005, Wallace acquired a new stallion, A Legend At Last, and established a new breeding facility, Heck Yea Quarter Horses in Terry, Mississippi. This ranch would provide his broodmares and new stud a place to call home. With the help and expertise of Bruce and Mary Horn, Heck Yea Quarter Horses is now also home to several World and Reserve World Champion Stallions, such as Dominates Image, Cool Tall One and A Legend At Last. The Horns have over 25 years of breeding experience in the horse industry and, with their help, Wallace has been able to provide not only mare owners, but other stallion owners a facility that will help them satisfy their needs, no matter how big or small. The beautiful ranch is spread out across 60 acres of beautiful green grass and rolling hills. The new stallion barn is now complete with eight 16x16 stalls. This state-of-the-art breeding facility has over 75 stalls in the mare motel and adjoining foaling barn. The foaling stalls are on closed circuit camera and are monitored 24 hours a day during foaling season. The breeding lab is fully equipped with the most modern equipment for processing and shipping semen so that we are able to assure our clients of the highest quality in mare care. Heck Yea offers year-round mare care, embryo transfers and breedings to all of our outstanding stallions. We are setting the stage for many future world champions.

We invite you to come by and pick out yours. HECK YEA!
